Alderwoman Nicole Lee Steps Up for Welch for 7th District State Central Committeeman

With the overwhelming support of Democratic Leaders and over half of the 7th District’s electeds behind him, Speaker Welch has landed another critical endorsement from a voice representing Chicago’s very own Chinatown. Aldeworman Nicole Lee of the 11th Ward is adding to the momentum of Welch for 7th District State Central Committeeman. 

“I'm proud to endorse Illinois House Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch for State Central Committeeman of the 7th District,” said Lee. “Speaker Welch is a steady, inclusive leader who listens, brings people together, and delivers results for working families. Our party—and our communities—will be stronger with his experience and integrity at the table.”

Alderwoman Lee was born and raised in Chinatown. She represents the first-ever Asian American majority ward in the city. Similar to Speaker Welch, who is the first African-American to serve as Speaker of the House for Illinois, Nicole Lee made history as the first Asian American woman and Chinese American to serve on the Chicago City Council. Lee’s Ward is broken out into 38 election precincts.
